Effective April 1st, 2026

Per the most recent review of plan basis points, the PERB voted to change State of Nebraska Defined Contribution Plan fee from 1.5 basis points to 2.0 basis points. They also approved a change for the Deferred Compensation Plan, a decrease from 1.5 basis points to 1.0 basis points, while maintaining the $2.00 flat fee. The County Defined Contribution plan will continue with the current basis point fee of 3.0 basis points in place. Changes will be effective April 1st, 2026, and reflected on your July quarterly account statement.

LB 824 Notification

With the recent passage of LB824 in the Unicameral there are changes to the return-to-work guidelines for School Plan members. Effective May 1st, 2026, the separation from service period changes from 180-days for members terminating regular service to 120-days. During this 120-day separation from service, which establishes your bona fide termination of service from the plan, NO SERVICE for a School Plan employer may be rendered. This means no volunteer, substitute, independent contractor, or service for another organization that provides similar service for School Plan employers.

Public Employees Retirement Board (PERB) Approves Dividend

Each year, the Public Employees Retirement Board (PERB) reviews the annual actuarial valuation and the actuary's recommendation to determine whether a dividend may be granted, subject to the requirement that the plan remain 100% actuarially funded. Based on this year's valuation, the PERB approved a dividend of 3.47% for the State plan and 3.36% for the County plan.
