In-Person Seminars

NPERS offers in-person retirement seminars for State & County plan members:

Full-Day Retirement Seminars: Ideal for those seeking a comprehensive understanding of retirement planning. Topics include:

  • Your Pension Plan
  • Medicare
  • Elder Fraud
  • Estate Planning

  • Online Webinars (free)

Webinars are a streamlined version of our full-day in-person events. They provide in-depth information about your retirement plan, including time for questions. When paired with our Social Security, Medicare, and Estate Planning videos, they cover the same topics as the full-day seminars.

This year's binder of educational materials can be found HERE. These materials can be used to follow along with the webinar presentation or as a guide for self-study.

Webinars run from 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM.

Paid Leave to Attend a Seminar/Webinar

Eligible employees may receive paid leave to attend up to three Retirement Planning Sessions, but only one session may be attended per fiscal year using paid leave. State law defines "leave with pay" as time off paid by the employer and not as vacation, sick, personal, or compensatory time. Leave may only be used to attend sessions that occur during the employee's normal workday. For leave purposes, a "day" is considered to equal eight hours. The actual leave time granted may vary depending on the program and any associated educational components, which may be completed separately. Employees may attend more than three sessions, but additional leave is at the employee's expense and subject to employer approval. Please consult with your employer regarding leave approval prior to attending any session.

    Cancellations of In-Person Seminars

In the event a seminar is cancelled, NPERS will attempt to contact registered participants. Limited notice, especially in the case of weather-related cancellations, may make it difficult to reach all attendees in advance. If a seminar is cancelled due to weather, NPERS will post an update on the homepage of its website as soon as possible. Members may also contact NPERS directly to confirm the status of a seminar. If a seminar is cancelled, employees are expected to report to work or make other arrangements with their employer (such as using vacation time) for their absence. If NPERS reschedules a cancelled seminar, each registrant will be notified of the new date and given the option to attend or request a refund. If a seminar is cancelled and not rescheduled, a refund of the registration fee will be issued.

Your Guide to Retirement: Videos Covering In-Person Seminar Topics

If you missed a seminar, a recorded webinar is available to watch anytime. This webinar covers the retirement plan. Additional videos cover Social Security, Medicare, and estate planning fundamentals, providing a convenient seminar-at-home experience.
